We had 36 moms and lots and lots of children!  It was SO MUCH FUN!!  I LOVED every minute of it!  Building All Children set up centers and activities; the children played and played!  We observed moms connecting, visiting, and learning different activities to play with their children.

We cut up straw and hid pretend spoons in the bucket of straws.  The children loved this activity.  We also provided brooms and dustpans for them to clean up.  We had the best workers around town….:)

We provided fine motor activities.  The children also placed noodles through straws…fun, easy activity that develops great skills and keeps them busy.

One of my favorite things was to watch how the Building All Children’s volunteers poured into the children.  “Therefore, encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:11

Picking up ping pong balls with tongs also helps build eye coordination and fine motor muscles.  Of course, wearing gloves always helps. 🙂

“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” Psalm 139:14

We played with Insta-Snow and the children loved it!  Sensory play is important and allows children to play together.

Learning to use scissors can be hard for children.  We taught these amazing moms how to help teach the process of cutting with scissors by using straws.  This process allows the children to learn how to open and close the scissors while holding the straw sturdy.  It provides more success than paper that isn’t sturdy.  Bonus: the children can string the straws after they are done cutting:)

Tactile play is always an adventure for children.  We took contact paper and taped it down with the sticky side up.  The children walked across the stickiness.  Some children used their hands and other children walked across.  We even had some children lay down.  It was fun to see them explore.  We also took sandpaper and taped it down.  One little girl told me “it feels like her daddy’s face”:)   I love listening to children!
