Jean Evans

Building Readers Coordinator and Teacher

From an early age, Jean recognized her calling to teach. Following a childhood in rural Iowa, Jean attended the University of South Dakota where she received her Bachelor of Science in education with a concentration in elementary education and learning disabilities. Jean has also completed a number of master’s level courses from Oklahoma State University with a focus on learning disabilities and is certified in an Orton-Gillingham approach through the Institute of Multi-Sensory Education.

 Jean has been affiliated with Building All Children since 2018, bringing over 25 years of experience as an elementary school teacher, primarily with Jenks Public Schools. At Jenks, Jean was honored as Site Teacher of the Year for Jenks Southeast Elementary and received the Vision of Excellence Award from the Jenks Foundation. Over the course of her career in public education, and now through Building All Children, Jean has worked with hundreds of struggling readers, helping them become skilled and confident readers.

 Jean lives in Tulsa with her husband of over 50 years, who together have three married adult children and five precious grandchildren who call her Gigi. Jean is blessed to be able to devote her life to the things that matter most to her, her faith, her family, her health, and teaching children to read.
