Friendship

A while back my youngest daughter came to me with a broken heart. She’s had several of her closest friends move away and she was feeling lonely. She expressed her concerns with tears flowing down her sweet face; she told me she desires strong good friendships that she can do life with. Her older sister has a great circle of friends and she expressed that she wanted the same. As her mom I didn’t really know what to tell her. I found myself just holding her and listening. When she looked up at me with her big blue eyes I didn’t know what to say so I told her let’s ask God to help us and tell him your hurts.

It was one of the sweetest prayers we prayed. It was honest, tender, and very vulnerable. We asked Jesus to provide a friendship like Jonathan and David (1 Samuel 20). We prayed Psalm 102:1-2 “Lord, hear my prayer! Listen to my plea! Don’t turn away from me in my time of distress. Bend down to listen and answer me quickly when I call to you.” We asked God to provide the right friends, friendships that would be healthy medicine to her heart (Proverbs 17:22).

He answered! He answered that sweet tender prayer! She was placed on a basketball team that bonded and started doing activities outside of basketball. Several of those girls are playing softball together and they are even signed up to go to church camp this summer. My daughter came to me and said He truly bends down and listens…He answered our prayer! I LOVE it!!! Life isn’t easy but believing He cares…He listens…He answers….helps! Thank you Jesus for answering our sweet prayer! Thank you for allowing me to have a daughter that believes in You!
