This week Building All Children will be focusing on fine motor skills and how to strengthen and enhance shoulder, arm, and wrist stability, as well as general hand muscle development.

I was at a child care center last week and they had the children writing and drawing on the fence of the playground.  I thought what a great idea…it kept the kids busy and challenged their fine motor skills.   They were working on their pencil grip and creating beautiful pictures all at the same time.  They made a house and it made me think of Matthew 7:7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” A perfect way to work on fine motor skills and teach the Truth!  The Bible says to teach your children the Truth again, and again!

For children that need to strengthen their fine motor skills writing upright allows them to use their entire arm/shoulder which will give them more success in their drawing.  Having more success will allow them to want to use paper and pencil more.  Learning to write and draw only comes from exposure.  They need the opportunity to write.

And yes…just a little water and it washes right off! 🙂

Chalk secret…..if you soak your chalk in water it will write brighter (also makes a funny sound) your children will love it!

Enjoy!!!
